Yes — Skrypt Desk works with both Open Dental cloud and on-premise installations. For cloud instances, we connect directly via the Open Dental API. For on-premise, we support secure API connections through your network configuration. Our onboarding team handles the technical setup for both cases during implementation.

What happens when a patient calls and my schedule is full?

When your Open Dental schedule shows no available slots in the requested timeframe, Skrypt Desk offers the next available opening across all providers, waitlists the caller with a confirmation SMS, or transfers to a staff member depending on how you configure it. The AI never tells a caller you are fully booked without offering an alternative path.

Can Skrypt Desk handle multi-location practices using Open Dental?

Yes. Multi-location dental groups using Open Dental can configure Skrypt Desk with separate phone numbers per location, each connected to the corresponding Open Dental database. Calls are routed to the correct location-specific workflow, and bookings are written to the correct Open Dental instance. A shared Client Hub Portal gives you visibility across all locations.

Is patient data from Open Dental secure?

Yes. Skrypt Desk is HIPAA and PHIPA compliant. We sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with every practice customer. All data exchanged with Open Dental is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3. We access only the minimum necessary fields to complete each workflow — schedule, appointment types, and patient demographics for active bookings.
